Lori’s Approach:
In my over 25 years of experience in the retail industry, I’ve worked with a lot of recruiters…both as a candidate and an employer. However, it always seemed to me that recruiters were always time conscious just wanted to fit a square peg in a square hole in order to quickly make the easiest job placement possible. When seeking a job myself, I knew that if only I could find that one, rare recruiter who would take the time to really get to know me and understand my needs and desires, my opportunities of getting in front of not only more employers, but the right ones, would be far greater. But, that never seemed to happen. It takes a good recruiter to ask the right questions and be honest with their candidates about their qualifications. I make certain that I am presenting the very best candidates to client companies and packaging candidates so that their qualifications stand out. I take the time to listen, learn and get to really know my candidates and employer’s needs.
Like retailing, the hospitality industry is really about being in the people business. It requires strong interpersonal skills, patience, endurance, and creativity. It’s about connecting with the customer, creating positive experiences, understanding the cost effective use of space, merchandising and sales, and people management. My diverse background in retail management helped me to develop and hone the strong skills needed for understanding and identifying what it takes to be a successful hospitality manager at every level, from both an employer’s and candidate’s point of view. I consult with HR Managers on a daily basis to understand what their unique needs are for each opportunity and match the experience and skills required with the talents and aspirations of each candidate. I coach each candidate on interviewing skills and career choices, sharing my own experiences in pursuing a career path that leads to reaching your personal and professional goals.
The changing of a job/career is one of the most important and stressful times in anyone’s life. I have made the tough career choices and understand how these choices impact your family life. I understand what it means to break with tradition and I promise both candidates and employers, I will not just make the easy placements. I will listen, I’ll ask the questions, create human connections, and invest my time to learn the real needs of both the candidate and the employer and bring the right match together.
